Abstract
De larga tradición y arraigo cultural, el wéstern es uno de los emblemas del estilo clásico de Hollywood. Con Meek’s Cutoff (2010), Kelly Reichardt ahondará en sus convenciones estilísticas a fin de ofrecernos una alternativa al discurso oficial del género. Un muy particular uso del montaje de plano contraplano servirá a la realizadora como forma de repensar la figura de la mujer pionera dentro del relato fundacional estadounidense.
Western genre is one of the greatest emblems of the classic Hollywood style, deeply embodied in American cultural roots. With Meek’s Cutoff, Kelly Reichardt will go deep into its stylistic conventions in order to offer a discourse out of the canon. The director will make a very special use of the shot reverse shot montage in order to rethink the pioneer women identity within the American founding history
