De larga tradición y arraigo cultural, el wéstern es uno de los emblemas del estilo clásico de Hollywood. Con Meek’s Cutoff (2010), Kelly Reichardt ahondará en sus convenciones estilísticas a fin de ofrecernos una alternativa al discurso oficial del género. Un muy particular uso del montaje de plano contraplano servirá a la realizadora como forma de repensar la figura de la mujer pionera dentro del relato fundacional estadounidense.Western genre is one of the greatest emblems of the classic Hollywood style, deeply embodied in American cultural roots.
