Turiferario

Abstract

El turiferario (lat. turiferarius) es el acólito o monaguillo que se encarga del cuidado del turíbulo (incensario) y lo porta procesionalmente dentro de determinadas ceremonias litúrgicas. Por extensión, también se denomina de esta manera a cualquier persona que sostenga un incensario, especialmente a los diáconos y subdiáconos cuando lo utilizan para incensar, o a los distintos órdenes de las jerarquías celestes (ángeles y serafines, especialmente) cuando se los representa con este elemento en distintas manifestaciones plásticas.The thurifer is the acolyte who carries the censer in the liturgy.
