Abstract
La demanda de educación superior en el mundo ha aumentado en los últimos años. Promover el progreso académico y la permanencia universitaria, con mayor entendimiento de la diversidad es un objetivo compartido por las instituciones, investigadores y organismos internacionales. El progreso es entendido como el avance curricular operacionalizado como rendimiento académico (RA) y la permanencia universitaria, implica la matricula en un curso posterior al que ya cursó. En Chile también se observa este incremento en la matrícula de educación superior, lo cual ha evidenciado que las tasas de abandono académico son del 26%, afectando principalmente a estudiantes de primer año y aquellos provenientes de sectores más vulnerables económicamente. Una iniciativa que está buscando disminuir las brechas de desigualdad otorgando acompañamiento para acceder y progresar académicamente es el programa PACE. Este programa permite que estudiantes que se encuentren en el 15% de mejor RA de su generación de la secundaria, tengan un cupo garantizado en la educación superior...
The demand for higher education in the world has increased in recent years. Promoting academic progress and university permanence, with a greater understanding of diversity, is an objective shared by international institutions, researchers and organizations. Progress is understood as the curricular advance operationalized as academic performance (AP), and university permanence implies enrollment in a course after the one already completed.In Chile, this increase in higher education enrollment is also observed, which has shown that academic dropout rates are 26%, mainly affecting first-year students and those from more economically vulnerable sectors. An initiative that is seeking to reduce inequality gaps by providing support to access and progress academically is the PACE program.
