Recurrencia de DANAs en la península ibérica (1924-2023). Impacto en las inundaciones en la Comunidad de Madrid

Abstract

Se presenta un estudio de recurrencia de Depresiones Aisladas en Niveles Altos (DANAs) sobre la península ibérica entre los años 1924 y 2023, abarcando el periodo más amplio estudiado hasta el momento con el objetivo de identificar y destacar posibles tendencias, indagar en las características de estos fenómenos y profundizar en las hipótesis relacionadas con cambios de patrones en los mismos debido al cambio climático. Asimismo, se enlaza dicho estudio con el impacto de las DANAs en las inundaciones acontecidas en la Comunidad de Madrid durante el mismo espacio de tiempo, algo inédito hasta la fecha, buscando reconocer cuál es la influencia de las mismas en este tipo de eventos, tendencias, factores condicionantes y la identificación de aquellos términos municipales más susceptibles de sufrir inundaciones provocadas por estas situaciones sinópticas. El análisis secular de las DANAs realizado muestra que no existe una tendencia significativa y que su duración parece haber disminuido ligeramente. Además, la mayoría de los eventos se han localizado en el suroeste de la península ibérica. Por otro lado, se indica que, aunque la probabilidad de que una DANA genere inundaciones en la Comunidad de Madrid es baja, estas son las causantes de un 35% de los eventos de inundación en el último siglo en esta comunidad autónoma.

A study of the recurrence of cut off-lows (COLs) over the Iberian Peninsula between 1924 and 2023 is presented, covering the longest period studied so far with the aim of identifying and highlighting possible trends, investigating the characteristics of these phenomena and deepening the hypotheses related to changes in their patterns due to climate change. This study is also linked to the impact of the COLs on the floods that occurred in the Community of Madrid in the same period, something unprecedented to date, seeking to recognize their influence on this type of events, trends, conditioning factors and the identification of those municipalities most susceptible to flooding caused by these synoptic situations. The secular analysis of the COLs shows that there is no significant trend and that their duration seems to have slightly decreased. Furthermore, most of the events have been located in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula. On the other hand, it is indicated that, although the probability of a COL generating floods in the Community of Madrid is low, they are responsible for 35% of the flood events in the last century in this region.
