Abstract
Presents research on the information’s representation in digital form of art collection, specifically furniture, present on the site of the Museum of Sacred Art of Sao Paulo. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the progress that information and communication technologies (ICT’s) allow for remote access to information. Under documentary, it is suggested in some informational additions such as, for example, the physical description of materials and its dimensions. The methodology is guided in documentary studies, resorting to the Information Science field and exploratory, with research conducted on that site. The documentary studies are the first step of this research, the basis for the analysis of the representations of the art collection of the Museum. Some objects this collection are selecioned for analysis on the foundations of the area of Information Science. The purpose of analyzing the mode of representation of the object and the theoretical foundation is to provide a structured framework for the information’s representation in digital media, its theory and applicability. It follows that the documentary work allied to information and communication technologies enables more faithful representation of museum objects and their access even to long distances.
