dc.description.abstractEl paso de una sociedad analógica al actual mundo digital ha influido de manera determinante en el aumento cuantitativo de los datos –Big Data–, así como en los procesos necesarios para su organización, filtrado y exposición, culminando en el campo de la infografía y visualización de datos. Esta disciplina, a caballo entre la ciencia, el periodismo y el arte, ha experimentado un gran auge en los últimos años, convirtiéndose en un área de innovación constante, tanto por las herramientas utilizadas (software) como por el creciente número de especialidades implicadas. Estableciendo un paralelismo entre las ciencias cognitivas –nuestra forma de percibir y codificar el mundo que nos rodea– con los pasos necesarios para llevar a cabo una infografía, se demuestra cómo la formación de nuestro cerebro, siguiendo causas evolutivas regidas por la supervivencia, se enfrenta a un nuevo dilema, donde la rapidez en la toma de decisiones no siempre supone la mejor de las opciones. La visualización de datos es una disciplina de profundas raíces. A través de un recorrido histórico, se evidencia el progresivo incremento de materias de muy distinto signo que integran la visualización de datos e infografía a sus procesos de trabajo, haciendo hincapié en el empeño del ser humano por organizar los sucesos naturales, los descubrimientos geográficos o los conocimientos adquiridos sobre sí mismo, desde la astronomía, cartografía, anatomía, estadística y resto de disciplinas que conforman un mosaico de nuevas funcionalidades en el objeto de estudio de esta investigación...
dc.description.abstractThe transition from analog to today’s digital world society has influenced decisively on the quantitative increase of data -Big Data- and necessary processes for its organization, filtering and exposure, culminating in the field of computer graphics and visualization of data.   This discipline, halfway between science, journalism and art, has boomed in the recent years, becoming an area of constant innovation, both in the tools used (software) and the growing number of specialties involved.   By establishing a parallel between the cognitive sciences-our way of perceiving the world and encode sur- rounded us with the necessary steps to carry out an infographic, demonstrates how the formation of the brain, following evolutionary causes governed by survival, faces a new dilemma, where the speed of decision making does not always mean the best option. Data visualization is a discipline of deep roots.   Through a historical review, the progressive increase of very different materials that integrate data visualization and infographics to their work processes, emphasizing the efforts of human beings to organize natural events, geographical discovery or evidence the knowledge acquired on itself, from astronomy, cartography, anatomy, statistics and other disciplines that make up a mosaic of new features in the subject matter of this investigation. With the advent of digital systems, computer graphics becomes a melting pot where different forms of expression, from the strictly informative walking to near abstraction.
