Historia de la escenografía en Puerto Rico: (Hasta 1975)

Abstract

Esta tesis doctoral titulada Historia de la escenografía en Puerto Rico (Hasta 1975) pretende indagar sobre cómo fueron los comienzos escenográficos en la Isla. Haciendo un recorrido dentro de la historia teatral puertorriqueña, se identifica toda aquella información que ayude a documentar cómo fueron las primeras representaciones teatrales, a su vez, se determinará a ese primer escenógrafo en Puerto Rico y de dónde provino su conocimiento. La importancia de esta investigación estriba en que actualmente no existe un libro o documento que cuente la historia teatral desde una perspectiva del diseño escénico. Es importante incidir en que existen libros que estudian la historia del teatro desde la perspectiva del dramaturgo o del actor. Otros investigadores se limitan a analizar épocas, grupos teatrales y compañías. En esta revisión literaria se logra corregir información y aclarar cuándo realmente surge la afición teatral en la Isla...This project, The History of Scenic Design in Puerto Rico (through 1975), is a requirement towards a PHD degree title and pretends to investigate the origins of scenographic art in the island. Through a thorough investigation of the history of the Puerto Rican Theatre, we should be able to identify all the information available that will help us document how were these first theatre representations and, at the same time identify that first scenery designer in Puerto Rico and how did he acquire his expertise. The importance of this investigation consists in that as of today, a book or document does not yet exist that will provide us with information of scenography design. Books on the history of the Puerto Rican Theater seem to be synonymous of literary history as well as a few articles on actors, and theatre companies.
