Abstract

In fact, there are several interests at stake for Moscow in this region. Beyond military and economic interests, there is one of its main strategic partners, China, with whom it intends to maintain and strengthen its relations for several reasons. Consequently, the aim of this investigation is to analyze how much this region matters to the Kremlin and why Russia has tried to play a more influential role in Asia-Pacific affairs over the last decades. Furthermore, there will be examined those principal elements of Russian’s policy over a region that Moscow continues to see as a significant geopolitical arena.
