Contra el progreso. La ciencia límite del surrealismo

Abstract

Ponencia. El dada-surrealismo rechazó el mito moderno del progreso, pero en absoluto se desentendió de la ciencia cuya metodología de aproximación a lo real fue un modelo para revistas como La Révolution surréaliste o Documents y cuyas imágenes -micro, macro, submarinas, etc.- resultaron fundamentales en su imaginario. Piénsese, por ejemplo, en el cine científico del mundo submarino de Jean Painlevé o el de insectos, con el que Buñuel inicia su L'Âge d'or. La ciencia, desprovista de todo sentido instrumental, proveía "mitos en acción" (Michel Leiris) tanto como ficciones del real-maravilloso (Raymond Roussel). Se trata de documentar cómo la ciencia contribuyó a la ficción y la mítica surrealista.
