Juglares de una nueva gesta épica. Intelectuales, pueblo y héroes de la guerra civil española en la literatura hispanoamericana (1936-1939)

Abstract

La presente tesis doctoral plantea un estudio sobre la construcción del héroe popular de la guerra civil española en la literatura hispanoamericana entre 1936 y 1939, época marcada por la movilización de los intelectuales frente al fascismo y la búsqueda de una nueva estética literaria vinculada a las causas populares. Este trabajo examina el compromiso de los intelectuales hispanoamericanos favorables al bando republicano y su papel en la movilización solidaria y propagandística con el pueblo español. Como consecuencia, esta investigación tiene como objetivo explicar la conformación y características del frente popular hispanoamericano, la red continental y transatlántica de intelectuales, publicaciones y organizaciones políticas tras la logística mediática y propagandística de la lejana retaguardia. Este estudio se centra en la representación literaria de los principales héroes populares del conflicto en la obra de los intelectuales hispanoamericanos, que, a través de la literatura, el periodismo e incluso su presencia en España como corresponsales o voluntarios, configuraron un imaginario colectivo en torno al héroe popular destinado a decantar las simpatías de la opinión pública hispanoamericana del lado republicano. This thesis presents a study on the construction of the popular hero of the Spanish Civil War in Spanish American literature between 1936 and 1939, a period marked by the mobilization of intellectuals against fascism and the search for a new literary aesthetic aligned with popular causes. The research examines the commitment of Spanish American intellectuals towards the Republican side and their role in solidarity and propaganda efforts with the Spanish people. Consequently, this study aims to elaborate on the formation and characteristics of the Spanish American Popular Front, the continental and transatlantic network of intellectuals, publications, and political organizations behind the propaganda and media logistics from the American rearguard. This research focuses on the literary representation of the main popular heroes of the conflict in the works of Spanish American intellectuals who shaped a collective imaginary around the popular hero to sway public opinion in Spanish America in favour of the Republican cause through literature, journalism, and at times their presence in Spain as correspondents or volunteers. In this way, the thesis explores the symbolic representation of these heroes and their connection to issues related to the identity of the new Spain, social class, the defence of culture, women's emancipation and religion, among others...
