Abstract
Investigaciones previas han señalado que tanto la salud mental como el estatus socioeconómico influyen considerablemente en la percepción del dolor y en la capacidad apreciada por el paciente para realizar actividades cotidianas tras el tratamiento de la artrosis. Nuestra hipótesis de trabajo fue que la indicación quirúrgica de la rizartrosis en áreas sanitarias con condiciones socioeconómicas similares a las del Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, podría estar influida por factores psicológicos y/o sociolaborales. Hemos examinado cómo variables como la ansiedad, la depresión y la actitud catastrofista frente al dolor, junto con las condiciones socioeconómicas, afectan a la evolución clínica y funcional de los pacientes que han recibido tratamiento quirúrgico o conservador de la artrosis TMC, una patología degenerativa frecuente que afecta a la base del pulgar y repercute de forma significativa en la funcionalidad de la mano..

We postulated that surgical indications for Trapeziometacarpal Joint Arthrosis in healthcare systems with socioeconomic conditions similar to those of “Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre” could be shaped by psychological and occupational determinants.
