Abstract
In the last 25 years, an increasing number of studies have been generated on the risks that healthcare activity entails in patient safety, with the aim of minimizing damage and raising the quality of care. This process, although fundamental to identify the key points that can generate risk incidents for critical patients during their care, transport and transfer, has barely been carried out in the Spanish Medical Emergency Services and never in the Medicalized Helicopters of the Emergency Services (HEMS).The review of the protocols and procedures of action of the HEMS equipment would allow identifying those critical points that can generate risk incidents for the patient. We understand that Failure Modal and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is the ideal risk management model to analyze the care, transfer and transfer of critical patients assisted by a HEMS team. Objective: To evaluate the safety of critical patient care and risk management in the field of medical helicopters, through the application of the failure modal and effects analysis (FMEA) tool...
