Abstract
El cambio climático actual es un proceso global y de gran impacto en los ecosistemas terrestres. En el incremento de la temperatura existen diferencias regionales acentuadas que responden a cambios no solo de la circulación atmosférica general, sino de la influencia de patrones climáticos regionales o locales. Además, es sabido que el cambio climático actúa en mayor medida sobre áreas de montaña que en áreas de menor altitud, lo que pone en riesgo el equilibrio de los sistemas naturales que existen en estas elevaciones y/o activan procesos naturales peligrosos (como las inundaciones fluviales) con una mayor frecuencia. En los Andes tropicales de Perú el equilibrio ecosistémico es único debido a la coexistencia de masas de hielo glaciar con la fauna y flora andina. Así, los impactos del cambio climático en esta región precisan de una monitorización constante que permita prever futuras modificaciones en ecosistemas y en los procesos naturales peligrosos que pueden ocurrir. Es en los Andes Tropicales de Perú donde se han registrado varios de los peores eventos de avenidas a nivel mundial...
Current climate change is a global process with a significant impact on terrestrial ecosystems. Increased temperatures are driven by marked regional differences that respond not only to changes in general atmospheric circulation but also to the influence of regional or local climate patterns. Furthermore, it is known that climate change is affecting mountainous areas to a greater extent than in lower-altitude areas, jeopardizing the balance of natural systems at these elevations and/or triggering dangerous natural processes (such as river flooding) with greater frequency.In the tropical Andes of Peru, the ecosystem balance is unique due to the coexistence of glacial ice masses with Andean flora and fauna. Thus, the impacts of climate change in this region require constant monitoring to predict future changes in ecosystems and the dangerous natural processes that may occur. Several of the worst flood events worldwide have been recorded in the tropical Andes of Peru...
