Abstract
The birth of a child is a vitally important event that brings the restructuring of roles, spaces and dynamics in couples. The traditional assignment of family tasks based on sexual criteria has been modified by the entry of women into the working world. Despite this, the presence of women-mothers both in the organization and in carrying out household tasks continues to be much greater than that of men (Maganto et al., 2003; Vosler,1996). The distribution of family work can be explained through gender ideology (Blair & Lichter, 1991): greater traditionality of the assigned roles produces a greater imbalance in the distribution (Rodriguez et al., 2010).Current family cores need to rethink the relationship between the work and family spheres (Urrutia & Figueroa, 2015). Barriers to work-life balance are present in an aggravating way for women (Paricio & Polo, 2020), considering their maternity as an obstacle to job promotion or professional success (Solé & Rubio, 2004). Psychosocial changes and their role as caretakers affect the mental health of new parents. Most of them experience symptoms of anxiety and stress that are underestimated both by themselves and by the healthcare personnel, with women being more vulnerable to their development (Asselmann et al., 2020; Figueiredo & Conde, 2011; O'Hara & Wisner, 2014; Pawluski et al., 2017; Vismara et al., 2016). Previous literature underlines the need to promote interest in perinatal mental health as a fundamental pillar of comprehensive health (Castejón & Sanz, 2021; Olza et al., 2021)...
