Abstract
Las proteínas morfogenéticas óseas (en inglés bone morphogenetic proteins, BMP) son factores de crecimiento pertenecientes a la familia del factor de crecimiento transformante β (en inglés transforming growth factor beta, TGFβ), que han demostrado su implicación en la regulación de diferentes procesos celulares y su papel en la homeostasis de diferentes órganos y sistemas. En cuanto a la relación de estas proteínas con la fisiología hepática, se sabe que juegan un papel crucial en diferentes estadios del desarrollo embrionario hepático y que están asimismo implicadas en la homeostasis del hígado en la etapa adulta. Aunque cada vez son más los estudios centrados en este campo, todavía no se ha descrito el papel que estas proteínas juegan en diferentes enfermedades hepáticas. Regarding their involvement in hepatic physiology, it is known that these proteins play a key role in different stages of the hepatic development and they are also implicated in the liver homeostasis in adults.
