El proceso de adaptación en el personaje: del signo semiótico al psicoanalítico

Abstract

En esta tesis doctoral, titulada El proceso de adaptación en el personaje: del signo semiótico al psicoanalítico, se pretende ahondar en cómo la construcción semiótica del personaje en el teatro, al trasvasarse al cine, pasa a ser psicoanalítica. Para su estudio nos hemos valido de un caso práctico muy adaptado a lo largo de la historia, alrededor del mundo y, por tanto, universal: del personaje de Hamlet. Y es que este personaje shakespeariano fue empleado por Sigmund Freud para desarrollar su famosa teoría psicoanalítica, una teoría que, a la vez, es la base sobre la que se apoya la cinematografía para llevar a cabo su proceso de significación. Es más, psicoanálisis y cine nacen de la mano, ambos en el año 1895; el primero, inspirándose en el personaje de Hamlet para clasificar las psicopatologías y, el segundo, bebiendo de su antecesor, del teatro, para narrar desde la imagen y lo icónico, tomando también sus historias. Los principales objetivos que han guiado este estudio son el descubrimiento de si el trasvase psicoanalítico es un garante del éxito en la recepción de la obra, si pueden los rasgos del personaje protagónico recoger la esencia de la obra adaptada, de qué modo se pueden magnificar o aminorar dichos rasgos empleando para ello lo icónico y desvelar cuál es el mejor método por el cual llevar a escena una obra adaptada, estableciendo para ello una teoría de la adaptación...

In this doctoral thesis, entitled The process of adaptation in the character: from the semiotic sign to the psychoanalytic one, it is tried to deepen in how the semiotic construction of the personage in the theater, when transferring itself to the cinema, changes to be psychoanalytic. For its study, we have used a case study which is very adapted throughout history all around the world and, thus, universal: the character of Hamlet. And it is that this Shakespearean character was employed by Sigmund Freud to develop his famous psychoanalytic theory, a theory that, at the same time, is the base on which cinematography is supported to carry out its process of signification. What's more, psychoanalysis and cinema are born at the same time, both in the year 1895; the first, inspired by the character of Hamlet to classify psychopathologies and the second, drinking from his predecessor, from theater, not only to narrate from the image and the iconic, but also their stories. The main objectives have guided this study are the discovery whether the psychoanalytic transfer is a guarantee of success in the reception of the work, if the features of the protagonist character can collect the essence of the adapted work, how these features can be magnified or reduced by using the iconic and revealing the best method by which to stage an adapted work, establishing a theory of adaptation for this...
