A partir de la pandemia por coronavirus, se populariza el término contactless para describir el tipo de interacción tecnológica que prescinde del contacto físico. Esta conectividad sin contacto es adoptada por múltiples artefactos digitales que instauran en el proceso una nueva normalidad donde la accesibilidad, la omnipresencia y la higienización se volvieron condiciones tecnológicas indispensables. En esta investigación se propone una primera aproximación a la noción de contactless desde un análisis del sentido etimológico de la palabra contacto a partir de los términos contagio y contingencia, derivados de tangere (tocar). De este modo, se elabora un despliegue de los múltiples sentidos del tocar y cómo estos, en la actualidad, son mediados y moldeados por la tecnología. Para ello, también se atiende a factores como la vulnerabilidad intrínseca al tocar y las lógicas inmunitarias que reconfiguran las formas de relación con la exterioridad. El trabajo establece la interacción tecnológica como un pilar clave de la investigación a través de la recopilación y estudio de diversas tecnologías contactless clasificadas en: interacción máquina-máquina, interacción humano-máquina e interacciones hápticas sin contacto. Asimismo, mediante casos de estudio centrados en prácticas artísticas interactivas, se examinan otros posibles modelos de interactividad —más allá de los normativizados— a través del tocar y del sin contacto. El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar cómo las lógicas contactless transforman las formas de experienciar y habitar el mundo tecnologizado.
[EN] Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the term contactless has become widely used to describe a type of technological interaction that does not involve physical contact. This contactless connectivity has been adopted by numerous digital devices, establishing a new normal in which accessibility, ubiquity, and hygiene have become indispensable technological conditions. This research proposes an initial exploration of the concept of contactless through an analysis of the etymological meaning of the word contact, drawing on the terms contagion and contingency, both derived from tangere (to touch). In this way, the study unfolds the multiple meanings of touching and how these are currently mediated and shaped by technology. To this end, the study also addresses factors such as the intrinsic vulnerability inherent in touching and the immunological logics that reconfigure the ways we relate to the external world. The work establishes technological interaction as a key pillar of the research through the compilation and study of various contactless technologies classified as: machine-to-machine interaction, human-machine interaction, and contactless haptic interactions. Furthermore, through case studies focused on interactive artistic practices, this research examines other possible models of interactivity—beyond the standardized ones—through touch and contactless interaction. The aim of this research is to analyze how contactless logics transform the ways in which we experience and inhabit the technologized world.
