Abstract

Multicomponent reactions involve at least three starting materials that are combined in a single operation and are convergent, atom-economic, and step-efficient. They provide a highly efficient alternative to sequential multistep procedures and are therefore ideally suited for simplifying target-oriented synthetic efforts. In this context, this chapter reviews the use of multicomponent reactions as key step for natural product synthesis.
