El foro de la ciudad romana de Santa Criz de Eslava: sondeos de 2023

Abstract

Durante los meses de septiembre y octubre de 2023 se ha realizado la tercera campaña de excavación arqueológica concentrada en el foro de la ciudad romana de Santa Criz de Eslava. Las intervenciones se han focalizado en tres sectores del forum para ampliar el conocimiento del conjunto por el oeste, este y sur. Así, se ha recuperado el podio monumental de un edificio que ha conservado, en su posición original, hasta la zona moldurada del coronamiento. En el oeste se han hallado restos posiblemente vinculables con la basilica forensis, mientras que al norte se ha identificado que, para salvar la agreste topografía del terreno, debió de construirse un muro de aterrazamiento.The third fieldworks in the roman forum of Santa Criz de Eslava have resumed during October and September 2023. The research has focused on three sectors of the forum to broaden the knowledge of the whole site from the west, east and south. The monumental podium of the building has been recovered up to the moulded area of the coronation, preserved in its original position. To the west, remains, possibly linked to the basilica forensis, have been found, while in the northern area, to save the rugged topography of the land, it has been discovered a landing wall had to be built.
