Abstract
The first public Spanish museums appeared during Peninsular War, since then other institutions were founded: The Royal Museum of Prado and National Museum of Trinidad. Others projects were only developed in documents. This was the case of Nacional Historical Museum of Contemporary Artists. This was a space designed by a group of artists that belonged to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in 1847. The analysis of this plan from an artistic and social point of view cast doubt on the hierarchy perspective, main argument in museology which explains that authority figures of monarchy and government were the unique motor in the development of cultural institutions. Also, this perspective allows to study the formation of cultural sphere with the incorporation of artistic world —agents, practices and preferences— and the analysis of the artistic and politic groups of power.
