Abstract
José María Gil-Robles es probablemente una de las figuras de más larga trayectoria en la política española del siglo XX. Mucho se han estudiado sus años como dirigente de la derecha católica durante la Segunda República, pero menos se conoce la que fuera su última aventura política durante la transición democrática. En esa época, Gil-Robles capitaneó una de las más destacadas formaciones de la democracia cristiana de ámbito nacional: Federación Popular Democrática (FPD). El objetivo de este artículo es analizar las ideas y proyectos de Gil-Robles durante los años de la transición a la sombra de su papel como líder de la FPD, centrando el acercamiento en sus pensamientos sobre el propio cambio político y sus actuaciones respecto a la compleja convergencia de la democracia cristiana española.
José María Gil-Robles is probably one of the longest-serving figures in Spanish politics of the 20th century. Much has been studied about his years as a leader of the Catholic right during the Second Republic, but less is known about what his last political adventure during the democratic transition was. At that time, Gil-Robles captained one of the most prominent formations of Christian democracy at the national level: Popular Democratic Federation (FPD). The objective of this article is to analyze the ideas and projects of Gil-Robles during the years of the transition in the shadow of his role as leader of the FPD, focusing the approach on his thoughts about political change and his actions in the complex convergence of Spanish Christian democracy.
