Abstract
El Síndrome de Burnout (SBO) o de Desgaste Profesional puede entenderse como la respuesta extrema al estrés crónico que se produce en el ámbito laboral. El SBO está reconocido por la Organización Mundial de la Salud como una enfermedad laboral que provoca detrimento en la salud física y mental de los individuos, manifestándose con sintomatología que se puede reflejar en el ámbito emocional, conductual y psicosomático. En 1981, Maslach y Jackson definieron el SBO desde una perspectiva tridimensional en la que se daba la conjunción de agotamiento emocional, despersonalización y falta de realización personal y profesional. El primero de ellos haría referencia a las sensaciones de decaimiento físico y psíquico con el que el trabajador siente que no puede dar más de sí mismo a nivel afectivo, sentimientos de desesperanza e indefensión y pérdida de atractivo en el trabajo que se vuelve tedioso y sin interés, que se producen como consecuencia de las continuas interacciones que los trabajadores deben mantener entre ellos, así como con los clientes...
Burnout Syndrome (BOS) or Professional Burnout can be understood as the extreme response to chronic stress that occurs in a workplace. BOS is recognized by the World Health Organization as an occupational disease that has a negative effect on physical and mental health, and can be expressed through different emotional, behavioral and psychosomatic symptoms. In 1981, Maslach and Jackson defined BOS from a three-dimensional perspective as a combination of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and lack of personal and professional fulfillment. The first of these would refer to the physical and psychological decay that lead to a wide range of feelings: inability to give more of him/herself on an affective level; hopelessness and helplessness; or loss of attraction towards their work, becoming tedious and uninteresting.
