Abstract
PURPOSE: To measure the effect of a coated yellow filter on luminance thresholds in the central visual field (30º) under mesopic conditions.
METHOD: The luminance threshold was measured on the different areas of central visual field (30º) with the program GIX of the OCTOPUS 1-2-3 perimeter in a group of 38 adults subjects with an without coated yellow lenses ( 482nm cut-off) under mesopic conditions.
RESULTS: The luminance threshold improved through the yellow filter on the different established areas of visual field (30º) and the increase differential light sensitivity was statiscally significant (e.g. all visual field p=0.0003 and macular visual field (9.5º) p=0.0001.
CONCLUSION: There is an improvement of luminance threshold and hence a greater luminance perception through yellow filter under mesopic conditions.
