Abstract
Objectives. The objective of this thesis has been to estimate the epidemiological trends of coinfection by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) in Spain during the period between 2015 and 2021. Methods. We have estimated the prevalence of anti-HCV antibodies and active HCV infection (HCVRNA positive) in patients with HIV in Spain in 2021. We have compared them with the estimated prevalences found in four similar studies conducted between 2015 and 2019 following an identical methodology. The 2021 study was conducted with patients undergoing active follow-up at 41 centers, and the sample size was estimated with a 95% confidence level, a design effect of 1.0,and an accuracy of 0.75. %. Patients were selected at each center by random sampling with a proportional assignment. Data collection was carried out using an electronic case report form...
