Abstract
The doctoral thesis entitled Canopied sepulchres in the Iberian Peninsula (1240-1516): functions and forms of a microarchitecture aims at advancing in the knowledge of canopies sculpted as the effigy’s top element of Iberian Gothic sepulchres and slabs. In the Iberian Peninsula, the aforesaid bibliography is composed mainly of studies limited to Gothic canopies of the Crown of Aragon and those of the Reign of Portugal. Thus, it demonstrates the need for a thorough study on all the peninsular specimens, that includes formal, iconographic and functional aspects of every element of this type...
