dc.description.abstract | This article highlights the artistic and conceptual relevance of the iconographic type of the Coronation of Mary in Italy during the Late Middle Ages and Early Modernity. We have analyzed 14 Italian Renaissance paintings, aiming to discover the possible doctrinal sources that inspire them. From a conceptual perspective, we have specified that the iconography of The Coronation of the Virgin in Italy is directly inspired by the comments of some Church Fathers and medieval theologians and hymnographers. From the formal perspective, we discover that three different iconographyc types complement each other as progressively more complex variants of a similar basic structure.</jats:p> | eng |
dc.description.abstract | Este artículo destaca la relevancia artística y conceptual del tipo iconográfico de la Coronación de María en Italia durante la Baja Edad Media y la Alta Modernidad. Hemos analizado 14 pinturas del Renacimiento italiano, con el objetivo de descubrir las posibles fuentes doctrinales que las inspiran. Desde una perspectiva conceptual, hemos precisado que la iconografía de La Coronación de la Virgen en Italia está directamente inspirada en los comentarios de algunos Padres de la Iglesia y de teólogos e himnógrafos medievales. Desde la perspectiva formal, descubrimos que tres tipos iconográficos diferentes se complementan como variantes progresivamente más complejas de una estructura básica similar. | spa |
