Abstract

Vulvodynia is associated with many diseases, including physical disability, limitation of activities in daily life, sexual dysfunction, and reduced quality of life; in addition to other psychological implications such as anxiety and depression. However, it is poorly studied and underestimated, and a multidisciplinary approach involving healthcare professionals from various specialties is required. HYPOTHESIS AND OBJETIVES: It is hypothesized that an accurate diagnosis of vulvodynia associated with an understanding of its risk factors and social and personal characteristics would improve knowledge of this disease, the clinical condition, and quality of life of these women. The objectives of this study are to study the prevalence and epidemiological characteristics of women with vulvodynia in Spain, as well as the factors associated to it and its effect on the quality of life and sexual function of women suffering it...
