Abstract
In this Master’s thesis, from a series of well-defined testimonies, a facet of the ideology and beliefs of the emperor Hadrian, known as the solar ideology, is studied. Starting from the necessary definition of this concept, we will proceed to the exposition of each of these testimonies, always taking into account factors such as the context, the cultural baggage and, when appropriate, the due symbolism of each one of them; to discern the purpose for which Hadrian disposed of them throughout his reign. This also implies that, finally, it is necessary to examine the place where the solar ideology is located within the broad framework of the religion of Hadrian.
