Abstract
This paper aims two objectives. In the first place, a state of the art regarding the studies that have tried to link Ortega with William James’ pragmatism. Secondly, a hypothesis will me stablished: the scarcity of these studies may be underpinned in a prejudice regarding the pragmatism. That prejudice would have Schelerian origin and Ortega himself would have joined it.
