La investigación artística eurocéntrica y su decolonización estético-epistémica

Abstract

A lo largo de la historia de Occidente, lo epistémico ha dejado su impronta en las formas estéticas del arte. La filosofía, la teología y la ciencia han cristalizado en las formas de la imagen, del eikon. A pesar de las diferencias esenciales entre estos modelos estéticos, todos ellos coinciden en la búsqueda de lo universal. Sin embargo, estos modelos no son los únicos y verdaderos. Hay otras epistemes y otras estéticas más allá del eurocentrismo. La teoría decolonial latinoamericana critica los procesos de colonialidad del saber y del ver, a la vez que propone un nuevo modo de pensar y de crear. Este nuevo modo no es tan excluyente y unidireccional como el occidental, sino que está abierto al diálogo intercultural y transdisciplinar de saberes. Así, para dar cuenta de la relación entre epistemología y estética en el marco decolonial, tomaremos como caso de estudio los planteamientos en torno a la investigación en artes adoptados por la Universidad de las Artes de Ecuador.Throughout the history of the Western world, Epistemology has left its impression on the aesthetic forms of art. Philosophy, theology and science have crystallised in the forms of the image, of the eikon. Despite the essential differences among these aesthetic models, they all coincide on the search of the universal. However, these models are not the only ones which are true. There are other epistemologies and aesthetics beyond Eurocentrism. The Latin American decolonial theory criticises the processes of colonial knowledge and understanding and at the same time it proposes a new way of thinking and creating. This new way is not so exclusive and unidirectional as the Western one, but it is open to an intercultural and transdisciplinary dialogue between knowledges. Thus, we will choose as the object of study, the approach on the research in arts adopted by the Universidad de las Artes de Ecuador, to account for the relationship between epistemology and aesthetics in the decolonial framework.
