Abstract
ABSTRACT: In the last decade, a notable phenomenon has emerged in the Spanish music scene: the rise of self-proclaimed queerpunk or dyke punk bands. These groups compose their lyrics based on experiences outside heteronormative norms, exploring diverse gender identities. The lack of visibility for these bands until the previous decade is attributed to potential influences from lesbian activism since the early days of the Spanish Transition. This study examines the position of lesbians in activism, practices outside institutions, and the obstacles that prevented the assertion of dyke identities in the punk scene. The ideological alignment between the punk scene and queer/lesbian feminist movements is highlighted, giving rise to self-managed bands that occupy the scene with activist and identity-driven messages.
