Abstract
La cirugía ortognática ha evolucionado significativamente gracias al desarrollo de tecnologías digitales que han transformado por completo los métodos de planificación y ejecución quirúrgicas. Entre estas innovaciones, el uso de guías quirúrgicas y placas de osteosíntesis a medida diseñadas mediante la tecnología CAD/CAM ha permitido prescindir del uso de férulas oclusales tradicionales, introduciendo el concepto de cirugía “waferless”. Esta metodología tiene como objetivo principal trasladar con fidelidad y de forma reproducible la planificación virtual al acto quirúrgico. No obstante, existe una notable variabilidad en el diseño, fabricación y aplicación de los dispositivos personalizados. Orthognathic surgery has experienced a significant evolution due to the development of digital technologies that have completely transformed surgical planning and surgical techniques. Among these innovations, the use of surgical guides and patient-specific osteosynthesis plates designed through CAD/CAM technology has enabled the elimination of conventional occlusal splints, introducing the concept of waferless surgery. This methodology aims to faithfully and reproducibly transfer the virtual plan to the surgical field.
