El lenguaje de la politización en Castilla durante la Baja Edad Media: ciudades, nobleza y realeza

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es aproximarnos al fenómeno de «politización» que se produce en la Edad Media. «Politización» puede entenderse como asunción y extensión del comportamiento político en la sociedad, esto es, expansión de la política, entendida ésta no como sinónimo de poder legítimo, ni como equivalente inmediato de la noción de gobierno, sino como una forma de pensar, actuar y organizar la sociedad, de gobernar, pero buscando como fundamento la colectividad y el buen gobierno. Es esta la idea de política que la Edad Media “inventa” en cierta manera, en el siglo XII, y que perdurará hasta que se produzca la transformación final del Antiguo Régimen. En este trabajo nos centraremos en el lenguaje que apunta a la politización, tratando de ver con qué palabras se expresaría tal fenómeno en la Corona de Castilla, y en qué medida los principales agentes implicados en las relaciones de poder –en su sentido general y colectivo de ciudades, nobleza y monarquía- participan de este lenguaje o si son ajenos a él.The objective of this paper is to analyze the phenomenon of "politicization" as a medieval phenomenon. "Politics" can be understood as the assumption and extension of political behavior in society, that is, the expansion of politics, understood not as a synonym of legitimate power, nor as an immediate equivalent of the notion of government, but as an way of thinking, acting and organizing society, to govern, but ensuring the community and good governance. This is the idea of politics that the Middle Ages "invents" in a certain way, in the twelfth century, and that will last until the final transformation of the Old Regime takes place. In this paper we will focus on the language that points to politicization, trying to see with what words such a phenomenon would be expressed in the Crown of Castile, and to what extent the main agents involved in power relations, in their general and collective sense of the cities, the nobility and the monarchy: they participate in this language or if they reject it.
