Abstract
An escape into dreams, into silence, into books, an escape into yourself in the deepest sense» (Blandiana, 2021c: 75) — this is how the internationally renowned Romanian author Ana Blandiana defines the oneiric. Translated into more than 20 languages, her works in both verse and prose are now considered testimonies of the communist era under Nicolae Ceaușescu. Situated between memory and imagination, her works are marked by hybridity; her entire body of work connects to the fantastic genre and alludes to a dreamlike world that takes precedence over empirical reality and testimonial discourse. The imaginary, forher, is a literary tool — its link to fiction and dreams allows her voice to rise into the realm of the subjective, thus leaving room for open interpretation...
