Abstract
El periodismo turístico y de viajes en Internet es una materia que ha recibido hasta el momento una atención reducida desde el ámbito académico. En la última investigación que aborda esta especialidad de forma global, en 1999, se realiza un repaso histórico sobre la prensa de viajes y se analiza su importancia y entidad como especialidad periodística. Desde entonces, se ha estudiado únicamente de forma fragmentada o con poca profundidad. La actual investigación se halla justificada por múltiples factores: por la temática turística que abarca y el peso que esta industria tiene en la economía española, por la función de servicio al ciudadano –e incluso didáctica y cultural– de esta especialidad, por la conveniencia de establecer unos criterios de calidad que distingan la infopolución presente en la Red del verdadero periodismo turístico y de viajes y, por último, por la conveniencia de relacionar la formación universitaria con la labor que realizan los profesionales y analistas de la prensa turística. Los objetivos que nos hemos marcado en este estudio son realizar una exploración descriptiva que permita crear una panorámica de los medios con información turística online, evaluar la calidad del contenido generado por los medios turísticos y de viajes, analizar la oferta formativa de esta especialidad en las universidades españolas y reflexionar, a partir de la percepción de los profesionales del sector, sobre el presente y futuro de esta profesión...
Tourism and travel journalism on the Internet is a matter that has received so far a reduced attention from the academic field. The last research that deals with this speciality in a global way, in 1999, a historical review about the travel press is carried out and its importance and entity as a journalistic specialty is analyzed. Since then, it has been studied only in a fragmented or shallow way. The current research is justified by multiple factors: the tourist theme it covers and the great influence that this industry has on the Spanish economy, the service function to the citizens - and even didactic and cultural - of this specialty, for the convenience of establishing quality criteria that distinguish the “infopollution” present in the Network from true tourism and travel journalism and, finally, the convenience of relating university education to the work of professionals and analysts of the tourist press. The objectives we have set out in this study are: doing a descriptive exploration that will allow us to create an outlook of the media with online tourist information, evaluating the quality of the content generated by the tourist and travel media, analyzing the training offer of this specialty at Spanish universities and reflecting, from the perception of professionals in the sector, on the present and future of this profession...
