dc.descriptionDesde la entrada en vigor del Convenio sobre el Trabajo Marítimo (MLC, 2006), las compañías de cruceros se han visto obligadas a introducir cambios en la organización de los RRHH para cumplir las normas correspondientes sobre los derechos de los empleados. Este documento ofrece una visión general del papel y la organización de RRHH en la compañía española de cruceros Pullmantur. Esta investigación sugiere que los responsables de RRHH de los cruceros se enfrentan a mayores retos, en comparación con los de otros sectores, no sólo por la normativa específica que afecta a las empresas de cruceros, sino también por la complejidad de los procesos que van desde la contratación hasta la incorporación. El caso de Pullmantur ́s ilustra una forma particular de organizar la planificación de RRHH y la asignación de su personal, reflejada en su Crew Cycle Life (CCL). Tras revisar diversos documentos y realizar entrevistas a la dirección de RR.HH. de Pullmantur, este documento describe y examina los diferentes cargos, funciones y responsabilidades de RR.HH. «en el barco y en tierra». Concluye que la función de RRHH en una compañía de cruceros es más estresante y compleja, pero al mismo tiempo, más vibrante y desafiante que en otras industrias.
dc.description.abstractSince the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC, 2006) came into force, cruise line companies have been required to make HR organizational changes in order to comply with the corresponding rules on employees’ rights. This paper offers an overview of the role and organization of HR in the Spanish cruise line company Pullmantur. This research suggests that cruise HR managers face greater challenges, compared to those of other sectors, not only because of the specific regulations affecting cruise line companies, but also because of the complexity of the processes from recruitment to incorporation. Pullmantur ́s case illustrates a particular way of organizing the HR planning and assignment of its personnel, reflected in their Crew Cycle Life (CCL). After having reviewed different documents as well as interviews carried out with Pulllmantur’s HR management, this paper describes and examines the different positions, functions, and responsibilities of HR "on ship and shore". It concludes that HR’s function within a cruise ship company is more stressful and complex, but at the same time, more vibrant and challenging than in other industries.
