Los arzobispos y el clero catedralicio toledano (1209-1399) : proyección sociopolítica y relaciones intraestamentales

Abstract

Con la presente tesis, titulada Los arzobispos y el clero catedralicio toledano (1209-1399): proyección sociopolítica y relaciones intraestamentales, pretendo ahondar en el conocimiento de las relaciones mantenidas por el arzobispo y el cabildo de la catedral de Toledo con la monarquía, los concejos de las villas y ciudades de realengo, la nobleza y la oligarquía urbana; la evolución de los señoríos de la mitra y de la corporación catedralicia; las relaciones intraestamentales; y la sociología del clero catedralicio toledano.En primer lugar, he decidido responder a varios interrogantes planteados acerca de las relaciones trabadas entre la mitra y la corona. A modo de ejemplo, mencionaré cómo he podido comprobar que los arzobispos de Toledo participaron en numerosos eventos dirigidos a ensalzar el poder de la monarquía; delegaron, en ocasiones, en otras personas el ejercicio de sus oficios vinculados al servicio a la corona; y adoptaron una posición ambigua frente a algunas de las crisis políticas del momento...

The purpose of this thesis, entitled The archbishops and the Cathedral clergy of Toledo (1209-1399): socio-political projection and ecclesiastical relations is to provide a deeper insight into the relationship maintained by the archbishop and the chapter of Toledo’s Cathedral with the monarchy, the town councils and royal cities, the nobility and the urban oligarchy; the development of the estates of the archbishop and the cathedral corporation; the ecclesiastical relations; and the sociology of the cathedral clergy of Toledo.First, I have decided to answer several questions regarding the relationship between the archbishops and the Crown (1209-1399). For instance, I will explain how I have been able to prove that the archbishops of Toledo took part in numerous events to extol the monarchy power; occasionally delegated to others the practice of their trades related to the service to the crown; and adopted an ambiguous position in some of the political crises at the time...
