Abstract
It addresses what Europe we need and what European Union is possible without the need for reforms - or minor reforms - of the Treaties. The EU should be exemplary in upholding human rights and the rule of law. It should also be a protector of European citizens against unfair practices. We need an EU that assists states in adequate control of external and internal borders. We must think of initiatives that make people believe in the Union again, that restore the trust of citizens, and if possible that excite Europeans, that generate a feeling of commitment and belonging to European values.
