Abstract
The ego ideal is a part of what shapes the superego that has sometimes been the object of confusion in psychoanalysis, but on which a consensus has been reached on its meaning as a driving and motivating instance of behavior, forged in childhood from the identification with the parental figures and the environment. The other issue, also controversial, on which this study focuses is femininity, and the various theories that try to define and describe it. As we articulate both themes, we ask ourselves what the content of women's ego ideal is and how it determines her aspirations. Considering that the ego ideal cannot be separated from a patriarchal socio-historical context, it is worth asking oneself whether all its contents contribute to favor the vulnerability of the woman's psyche. In the first part of this study, there will be a review of the theoretical formulation of these questions in Freud's work. We will continue with a review of said concepts in the work of different classical psychoanalytic authors such as Helen Deutsch, Lou Andreas Salome, Karen Horney or Lacan and contemporaries such as Nancy Chodorow, Jean Baker Miller, Emilce Dio Bleichmar, Mabel Burínor Nora Levinton among others..
