Abstract
En la actualidad, la mayoría de los sistemas de producción animal intensivos se llevan a cabo en estabulación permanente, con la finalidad de aumentar los niveles de producción. Estos alojamientos se caracterizan por presentar un ambiente empobrecido y carente de estímulos apropiados, que restringe la capacidad de las ovejas para expresar los comportamientos que usualmente presentan en sus ambientes naturales. La hipótesis de partida fue que el enriquecimiento ambiental ocupacional alimenticio proporciona estímulos suficientes para incrementar los tiempos de actividad de las ovejas, permitiendo la expresión de comportamientos naturales, y mejorar su bienestar frente a ovejas no enriquecidas. At present, most of the intensive animal production systems are carried out in permanent housing, with the aim of increasing production levels. These housings are characterized by presenting an impoverished environment and lacking appropriate stimuli, which restricts the ability of sheep to express the behaviors that they usually present in their natural environments. The starting hypothesis was that food-occupational environmental enrichment provides sufficient stimuli to increase sheep activity times, allowing the expression of natural behaviors, and improve their welfare compared to non-enriched sheep.
