Abstract
This work aims to contribute to research in education in Brazil, through the analysis of scientific production of the Postgraduate Programs in Education in the country represented by the production of indicators evaluated by Higher Education Personnel Improvement Coordination (CAPES), founding the Ministry of Education (MEC). More specifically, the following indicators are analyzed: distribution of postgraduate programs in education in Brazil by regions; distribution of postgraduate programs in Education in Brazil, for concept in these regions; beginning year of programs and program concept; number of teachers and program concept; average of dissertations and theses; average of articles by Qualis and average of other publications (book chapters, books, entries, collections, works in annals, production artistic and other). As a research procedure, used as a source, Comparative Assessment Worksheet Triennial area of Education, in Portal CAPES, on evaluation of the last three years (2010 to 2012) for the total of 121 existing postgraduate programs in the country. From the data contained in this spreadsheet, considering a set of representative indicators of the activities of postgraduate programs, double sorting tables were built in order to observe the relevance and impact of the different indicators used by CAPES in the concept to be assigned to the programs. The findings point to a trend associations between the indicators and the program concept, confirming the relationship between concepts and obtained the standard of scientific performance and quality of programs.
