Las áreas altimontanas de la Cordillera Cantábrica son espacios multifuncionales centrales para la subsistencia de los grupos campesinos desde hace milenios. El presente trabajo aborda la complejidad de su registro arqueológico para reivindicar la necesidad de profundizar en el conocimiento de estos territorios desde una perspectiva diacrónica y sobre una base de investigación multidisciplinar.
The upland areas in the Cantabrian Mountains are multifunctional spaces which are central to peasant subsistence economies since several millennia ago. This paper deals with the complexity of material culture in these mountainous territories, claiming to going in depth in the historical understanding of mountain landscapes. Upland Archaeology in the Cantabrian Mountains must to focus in the longue durée and it should rely on a multidisciplinary approach.
