Abstract
The build up of an Elevation Digital Model allowed us to study the relationship botween relief and crustal deformation in the Central Zone of the Iberian Peninsula. By meaos of topographic data spectral analysis a «regional» topographic surface has been derivad. This surface is characterised by wavy structures with NE-SW to E-W trends and with 20 km of wavelength. The wavy structures showed by the regional topographic surface allow to discriminate severa~ topographic blocks with different characteristic. These units are cut-off by N-S structures, probably more recent. Geological, topographic and geophysical data allow to infer the tectonic character of the topographical structures established by means of spectral analysis. Probably, the topographical structures results from the stress field that was active in this region from Middle Miocene, characterised by a N 150° maximum horizontal shortening direct ion, normal to the wavy structures.
