Estudio de la subcultura del narcotráfico en Tijuana, B.C. (México) a través del análisis semiótico y descriptivo de los textos policíacos del periódico "Frontera" en los años 2013 y 2014

Abstract

En esta investigación hemos desarrollado un estudio cualitativo de la subcultura del narcotráfico en la ciudad fronteriza de Tijuana, Baja California, México, mediante el análisis de un corpus conformado por las noticias que narran los hechos sobre narcotráfico del periódico más vendido en Tijuana, denominado Frontera, durante los años 2013 y 2014. Las prácticas sanguinarias de la subcultura del narcotráfico se encuentran estrechamente vinculadas a la impunidad de la que gozan frecuentemente sus miembros y a la corrupción de las instituciones y de las fuerzas de seguridad. Estos elementos y sus complejas relaciones trastornan la dinámica social y la seguridad pública de Tijuana. During this research, we have developed a qualitative study of the drug trafficking subculture in the border city of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, through the analysis of a corpus conformed by the news that narrate the facts about drug trafficking between the years 2013 and 2014, by Frontera, which is the best-selling newspaper in Tijuana. The bloodthirsty practices of the drug trafficking subculture are closely linked to the impunity often enjoyed by its members, and the corruption of institutions and security forces. These elements and their complex relationships disrupt the social dynamics and public safety of Tijuana. Therefore, the study and knowledge of the meaning of drug trafficking become an inescapable requirement in understanding the configuration of this city. The main objective of the investigation is to search deeply into the narrative about the subculture of drug trafficking in Tijuana, in order to get to know and comprehend the meaning of the story in this social phenomenon. The study was carried out through two interrelated and complementary analyses: a descriptive analysis based on an analytical and documentary methodology and a semiotic analysis based on the methodology of the narrative semiotics of Algirdas Julien Greimas.
