Abstract
The present research work aims to study the phenomenon of microplastics in the context of the Anthropocene era and within the field of Technosphere knowledge. This objective is approached through various disciplines and conceptual theories, and it is related to texts and projects of contemporary art. The research hypothesis considers the phenomenon of plastic waste from a historical and fragmented perspective, as well as its sustainable or unsustainable and environmentally respectful or disrespectful influence. From an artistic standpoint, there is a symbolic re-signification of microplastics as a material, shifting from microplastics to contemporary “microruins” using methodologies and languages employed in the archaeology of the contemporary past. This research serves to conceptually argue and structure the materialization of the artwork that is part of this project, the Archaeology of Plastic Microruins.
