Abstract
En esta tesis doctoral analizamos diferentes fragmentos seleccionados de Babel (Alejandro González Iñárritu, 2006), El país del silencio y la oscuridad (Land des Schweigens und der Dunkelheit, 1971, Werner Herzog) y El hombre elefante (The Elephant Man, 1980, David Lynch)con el objetivo de aproximarnos a la mirada hacia la discapacidad que realizaron a través de esos films sus reconocidos cineastas. Hemos estructurado la investigación en cinco partes: delimitación del objeto de estudio y objetivos; marco teórico y metodológico; estado de la cuestión; análisis textuales; y conclusiones. En el primer capítulo justificamos la selección de los films elegidos como objeto de estudio y marcamos los dos objetivos de la tesis: cómo miran a la discapacidad Iñárritu, Herzog y Lynch; y en qué medida se relaciona la discapacidad con la monstruosidad en cada una de las tres películas...
In this Ph.D. thesis we analyze different selected fragments of Babel (Alejandro González Iñárritu, 2006), Land of Silence and Darkness (Land des Schweigens und der Dunkelheit, 1971, Werner Herzog) and The Elephant Man (1980, David Lynch), with the aim of approaching the view of disability through these films by their renowned filmmakers. This dissertation is divided in five parts: delimitation of the object of study and objectives; theoretical framework and methodology; state of the question; textual analysis; and conclusions. In the first chapter, we justify the selection of the chosen films as the object of study and set the two objectives of the thesis: how Iñárritu, Herzog and Lynch look at disability; and to what extent disability and monstrosity are related in each of the three films...
