La revolución y sus problemas: el Partido Comunista Italiano (PCI) ante el escenario portugués (1974-1975)

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza la actitud adoptada por el PCI hacia los acontecimientos que tuvieron lugar en Portugal entre el abril de 1974 y el final del "Verano Caliente" de 1975. La Revolución de los Claveles, tras suscitar inicialmente optimismo y esperanzas, fue generando en los comunistas italianos graves inquietudes. En particular, el PCI manifestó serias preocupaciones por la tendencia del Movimiento de las Fuerzas Armadas a ejercer un papel político predominante, por la oposición del Partido Comunista Portugués a la construcción de una democracia de corte occidental y por los ásperos enfrentamientos que se produjeron entre las izquierdas lusas.This article analyses the attitude adopted by the PCI towards the events that took place in Portugal be-tween April 1974 and the end of the “Hot Summer” of 1975. The Carnation Revolution, after arousing optimism and hope, gave rise to serious concerns among the Italian communists. In particular, the PCI expressed concer-ns about: the tendency of the Armed Forces Movement to exert a predominant political role; the Portuguese Communist Party’s opposition to a Western-style model of democracy; and the bitter confrontations that arose between the Portuguese left-wing parties.
