El legado de Paco de Lucía: la transmisión del conocimiento en la guitarra flamenca contemporánea

Abstract

Los guitarristas flamencos nacidos en la década de los cuarenta ampliaron generosamente los conocimientos sobre la guitarra, aumentando al alimón los caminos para acceder a ellos. Utilizaremos la vida musical del guitarrista flamenco más influyente de dicha generación, Francisco Sánchez Gomes, alias Paco de Lucía (1947-2014), para examinar la diversidad y evolución metódica que ha ido sufriendo la forma de transferir el conocimiento musical de un guitarrista flamenco a otro desde la década de los cincuenta hasta los años setenta. El artículo se divide en tres partes. La primera nos introduce en el determinante contexto cultural que alimentó a Paco de Lucía durante los tres primeros lustros de su vida. La segunda parte, se centra en el aprendizaje del guitarrista como acompañante de cantaores y bailaores flamencos durante los años sesenta. La tercera sección del artículo está dedicada a la transmisión del conocimiento y su relación con las nuevas tecnologías, siendo en los setenta la aparición de Paco de Lucía en los mass media determinante para la siguiente generación de guitarristas flamencos.

The flamenco guitarists who were born in the 1940’s increased substantially their knowledge about the guitar in general, opening new ways in which one could access to them. We will analyse the life and work of the most influential guitarist of his generation, Francisco Sánchez Gomes, alias. Paco de Lucía (1947-2014), to examine the diversity and methodological evolution that the flamenco guitar has suffered in the way flamenco guitarists learnt in the 1940' till the 1970's. The article is divided in three parts. The first one focus on the cultural context in which the guitarist from Algeciras used to learn in his childhood and youth. The second one, analyses the knowledge which is learnt by playing for other flamenco singers and dancers during the W_\V’s. The third part is related to the transmission of knowledge and technology, when Paco the Lucía started to be popular by the mass media and was going to have an impact on the following generations of (not only flamenco) guitarists.
