La fotografía en la Guerra de África : imágenes de los "Alfonso" (1909-1927)

Abstract

El objetivo prioritario de la Tesis Doctoral ha sido analizar el conjunto documental fotográfico sobre la guerra de África realizado por los reporteros gráficos “Alfonso” entre 1909 y 1927: Alfonso Sánchez García, y su hijo Alfonso Sánchez Portela. Se compone de 2.649 imágenes, de las que 1.736 (negativos en soporte vidrio) se conservan en el Archivo General de la Administración del Estado (AGA), y 913 fueron reproducidas en la prensa analizada. Esta investigación ha permitido conocer los principales fondos y colecciones fotográficos sobre las guerras de África conservados en instituciones públicas entre 1859 y 1927, estudiar y documentar el papel de la prensa ilustrada y de los reporteros gráficos en las campañas de Marruecos, cuantificar las fotografías publicadas en los principales diarios y revistas, elaborar un directorio con los reporteros gráficos que cubrieron las guerras entre 1860 y 1927, y estudiar el impacto social de las fotografías...

The main goal of the Doctoral Thesis has been to analyze all of the photographic documentation on the War in Africa carried out by the “Alfonso” photo journalists between 1909 and 1927: Alfonso Sánchez García and his son Alfonso Sánchez Portela. The collection is made up of 2,649 photographs, of which 1,736 (negatives on glass plates) are kept in the Archivo General de la Administración del Estado (AGA) and 913 were reproduced in the press media analyzed. This research has made it possible to discover the leading photographic collections and archives on the African wars, conserved in public institutions between 1859 and 1927; study and document the role of the illustrated press and the work of the photo journalists in the Moroccan campaigns; determine the number of photographs published in the leading newspapers and magazines; draw up a directory with the names of the photo journalists who covered the wars between 1860 and 1927; and consider the social impact of these photographs...
