Abstract

La investigación que se presenta, Cartografía y fragmentos de lo político y lo latinoamericano en el Arte Correo (1962 – 2001), se basa en el estudio del arte correo, definido como una práctica artística que consiste en la puesta en circulación de mensajes visuales, textuales,sonoros u objetuales, haciendo uso del sistema de correos, en torno a redes de individuos dispuestos a comunicarse mediante un lenguaje artístico / creativo, que hacen uso de recursos del medio postal tales como timbres, sellos, sobres o tarjetas; y se ajustan o transgreden las condiciones de envío propias del sistema oficial de correos que determinan tamaño, peso,restricciones y prohibiciones.El estudio se enmarca entre 1962, fecha asumida para el inicio del arte correo como una práctica artística diferenciada, y 2001, año que de manera simbólica ha marcado el giro de éste hacia una nueva tendencia vinculada con las nuevas tecnologías de la comunicación.Cartografía y fragmentos… parte de la hipótesis de que la práctica del arte correo contribuyó a reformular la identidad de un arte latinoamericano, al margen de las instituciones y desbordando las fronteras geográficas, gracias a la consolidación de los vínculos personales entre creadores procedentes de diferentes partes del mundo, y de la implicación política de los mail artistas como miembros de circuitos democráticos de creación y difusión de mensajes,quienes propusieron un sistema socio-artístico con pretensiones universales...The research presented, Cartography and fragments of politics and Latin America in Mail Art(1962 - 2001) is based on the study of mail art, defined as an artistic practice that involves the circulation of visual, text, sound or object-based messages, using the mail system, around networks of individuals willing to communicate through an artistic / creative language, making use of postal medium resources such as stamps, seals, envelopes or cards; complying with or infringing the terms and conditions of the official postal system itself that determine size,weight, shipping restrictions and prohibitions.The study falls between 1962, which is the date assumed to be the start of mail art as a distinct artistic practice, and 2001, as the year that symbolically marked its turning point into a new trend linked to new communication technologies. Cartography and fragments ... starts from the hypothesis that the practice of mail art helped to reshape the identity of a Latin American art, outside institutions and extending beyond the geographical borders, thanks to the consolidation of personal links between artists from different parts the world, and political involvement of mail artists as members of democratic circuits for the creation and dissemination of messages, who proposed a socio-artistic system with universal pretensions...
